Kathryn Siebel approached me to create promo materials for her debut children’s novel, The Trouble with Twins. We ended up working together on two pieces of media: a digital flip book for the Frankfurt Book Fair, to help sell international publishing rights; and a flier for local schools, to promote school visits. The approach for both pieces was the same: let the book’s beautiful illustrations shine, and highlight the positive press it received.
For the flier, I chose an eye-grabbing yellow to compliment Júlia Sardà’s cover for Twins, and added elements of Sardà’s illustrations to highlight positive reviews.
For the Frankfurt Book Fair flipbook (say that five times fast), we were dealing with Oxford University Press’s title and illustrations. Since the flipbook was an intro to story that involves a bit of a hunt, I sprinkled Sardà’s illustrations along a trail that threads between illustrated scenes. View the full flipbook here.
