Gimlet Creative produces content for brands, in this case a podcast with Blue Apron. I got to head up to the Hudson River Maritime museum, and set up in their archives with Sarah Wassberg to learn about the history of the potluck. Fun fact: “potluck” has nothing to do with “pot latch.” As Sarah pointed out, that’s an eggcorn.
The museum is next to a main road, a boat yard, a bridge over the Hudson, and of course the Hudson River itself, complete with boats. Everyone was getting out of work during the interview, but miraculously we only had to pause for noisy cars a handful of times.
You can dig into the finished thang right here.
