Apart from being ranked as one of Foreign Policy magazine’s “Twitterati,” Mark Goldberg edits the United Nations and global affairs blog UN Dispatch, and produces the Global Dispatches Podcast on foreign policy and human affairs. The latter was named by The Guardian “One of 27 Podcasts to Make You Smarter.” But with guests from across the globe, audio quality can be an issue.
Mark had some choppy tape from a phone call to Poland for this episode of Global Dispatches. Audio cleanup is like picking sand out of a hot dog you dropped on the beach – there’s only so much you can remove without damaging what you’re trying to save. I was able to remove a bunch of background noise, as well as some harsh sibilants on the Polish side of the call, without picking away too much of the hot dog. You can hear a before and after comparison here.
